On Tuesday, Feb. 14, the amazing season that Elgin Community College Men’s Basketball is having continued with a win over Moraine Valley with the final score of 90-67.

This ended their home-season, as well as the women’s team, however, their chances in the post-season looks a lot brighter than the women’s.

This improved their record to 25-5 with a winning percentage of .839, which is one of the highest that this school has ever seen.

The game saw ECC come out in the first half out scoring Moraine 34-24. However, they blew them away in the second half scoring 56-43 totaling the scores up to 90-67.

Head coach Reed Nosbisch was very pleased with, not only the game, but the whole season as well. He did have some concerns about last night’s game, however.

“The game last night was not bad, I felt that the team didn’t have a whole lot of energy in the game, Moraine had some injuries coming into the game and not to take anything away from our kids but we just looked tired,” Nosbisch said.

However, even though he did think they played with no energy, he does think they did have some strengths in this game.

“I felt that we played a different style of defense then we’re used to playing, we started off in this defense, we started off in the zone defense and I felt that we did pretty good in it but I felt that we needed to get out of it as well and to change the energy and tempo of the game,” Nosbisch said.

He also said that it was hurting them in the offensive side because it took so much energy out of them in the game.

One player that felt the same way about the game was Point Guard Desmond Douglas, who felt he had a good game.

“I felt like I started off well, it was a lot better than the first time that we played them, the first time we played them we came out flat footed and not ready to play. But yesterday it was vice versa we played a lot better than the first time that we played them,” Douglas said.

However, one played who felt that they could have done a lot better was Center Homer Denson.

“I felt that we played an okay game, they were under manned they had like six guys on their team and it took us a long time to pull away we should have done that in the first half. But overall it was a solid game,” Denson said.

Both players agreed that they took advantage of the other team having fewer players and both said that was a strength for the game.

Denson did say there are a couple of things that they can change going into the playoffs.

“Just defense, I think on the defensive part of things we did not do a good job in this game with rebounding and that we need to keep running so that they get really tired,” Denson said.

With the playoffs right around the corner, this men’s basketball team looks to be a favorite in the playoffs.
