Colin Kaepernick Isn’t The Problem

The protest of Colin Kaepernick, quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, against social justice did not receive any public attention until it was done in the third preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. Since then, it has stirred up discussion and support from other NFL players and even high school athletes.

I remember when I did my own similar protest back in high school; problems did not arise until a substitute was visibly upset and his reasoning was that I am disrespecting the troops who have died for our freedom. Surely, him and many people who say the same thing to Kaepernick (among other things) must be thinking about all the white soldiers that serve our country, and forget that people of color also protect and die for America. Why doesn’t anybody bring them up when police abuse their power?

Is this a race issue? Yeah, it’ll be stupid to think otherwise. It has been a race issue since Muhammad Ali refused to fight in Vietnam. The same injustice Ali was standing up for in the 60’s is still going on in 2016, and people are upset at Kaepernick?  Maybe people should read more.
