The purpose of the Observer shall be:
To report and share stories that interest, educate and serve the Elgin Community College (ECC) community
To serve as a journalistic media outlet created by ECC students
To act as a watchdog to increase transparency and accountability among the ECC community
To report news of interest, significance and relevance to its readers
To equip students with professional journalistic experience and training
To operate as a laboratory for learning the news media trade
The operation of the Observer will comply with Illinois College Campus Press Act.
