Izzy Harp explains her journey as an ECC student and how she stays motivated.
Q: How long have you been a student at ECC?
A: This is my first year and I am a freshman.
Q: What are your plans after ECC academically?
A: I would like to transfer to a four-year university and then get a bachelor’s degree. I have not decided on an exact major yet but I would love to do something in sports management or kinesiology. Definitely something with sports.
Q: What sparked your interest to choose that?
A: I really like sports. I have been a figure skater competitively for almost 12 years now. I have always wanted to do something that dealt with sports.
Q: What is one of your biggest goals for the future?
A: I don’t really have one, but I just want to have a successful career and be successful overall.
Q: What is something that you value about your education?
A: I feel like learning life skills is really important. Learning how to have time management skills and being organized.
Q: How would you describe yourself academically?
A: Most of the time I am very organized but I definitely have the work smarter not harder mentality.
Q: Is there any quote that you resonate with?
A: Not a specific quote but definitely trying is better than not trying at all.
Q: Who is one person in your life that is your biggest supporter?
A: I’d say my mom. She always does whatever I need to be a successful person and supports me in any way she possibly can.
Q: What is the greatest piece of advice you have received from being a student at ECC?
A: I think in terms of school, definitely try different classes. Since I haven’t picked a major yet, I think it is important to explore and try out different things and classes. Another thing is communication is key. With online classes it is a little more difficult because you don’t see these teachers, so it is important to reach out.
