On March 5, Tricia Kucinksi, a Native American and Polish author, read from her novel, The Courage to Exist in Daylight.
Her book tells the story of growing up on a Native American reservation in Wyoming and moving to Chicago.
“This book deals with grief,” Kucinksi said to an audience of about 20 people.
Kucinski said her second novel will about missing Indigenous women in the American West.
She answered student questions and gave advice to future writers.
Kucinski said, “Don’t get caught up in what you want to be and be yourself.”
