USAC continues to seek help for Puerto Rico
Hurricane Maria impacted the island of Puerto Rico nearly two months ago and since then Elgin Community College’s, United Students of All Cultures (USAC) has been holding a Puerto Rico drive at ECC.
The drive is to collect supplies the island has requested and is in urgent need of. So far USAC has received a lot of donations. A majority of donations is clothing. Although it is greatly appreciated it is unsure whether they will be received as they aren’t a priority for hurricane relief. Instead, they are asking feminine products, pet supplies, and all kinds of baby essentials and supplies.
The drive was first enacted because of Vice President of USAC, Kamie Peterson saw the reduction of help being sent to Puerto Rico and how in need they were, and still are.
Around the campus, there are boxes available to leave the donations in. USAC will be receiving donations up until Nov. 30.
