Today, I’m doing a review on La Michoacana which is a Mexican ice cream place. Although there are 7 locations across the Elgin area, I went to the McLean Blvd in the Wing Park Shopping Center. 

Once I went inside La Michoacana, I can tell the place looks amazing based on how clean it looks. Also, the place has a nice vanilla aroma. I looked around the place and they have plenty of snacks to choose from ice cream to paletas. One of the employees greeted me with a positive smile and I told them my order. Originally, I wanted to try their walking taco, but I didn’t see it on their digital menu, so I decided to get their Abuelita Ice Cream and a horchata drink. 

I noticed that I was the only customer there because I went there on a weekday, which is good because I can try those snacks in peace. La Michoacana has options of getting ice cream either in a cup, bowl or a dipping cup. I decided to get the ice cream in a dipping cup because originally, I requested for one scoop of ice cream but instead, I got two small scoops of ice cream which I’m okay with. 

Once I paid for my snacks, I sat down at one of their tables which had green chairs and a white table. I took a few seconds to look at the ice cream and the horchata that I got. The Abuelita ice cream that I got looked amazing but in terms of aesthetics, it reminds me of Oreo ice cream which almost has the same color and the signature dotted look. I ordered a small size of horchata but once I had it in my hand, the cup looked a little bigger than I expected. 

I took a bite of the Abuelita Ice Cream, and it was very delicious. It has a nice hint of vanilla but also, I can taste the flavor of Abuelita. Also, it has pieces of Abuelita within the ice cream scoops. Next, I took a sip of the horchata, and it was delicious also. I can taste the creaminess from the rice water but also the cinnamon too. For the ratings, I would rate the Abuelita Ice Cream a 10/10 and the horchata a 9.5/10. 

Let me address the pros and cons of La Michoacana at the Mclean Blvd location. The pros of La Michoacana at Mclean Blvd are more spacious, so it doesn’t feel tight when entering the place. Also, it has 10 tables total which is good because more people will have the opportunity to sit down and enjoy their snacks. The tables are set up on the right side of the place which has 8 normal tables and 2 little tables for the kids to sit on. Also, the lights in that location are brighter so you can see everything much better. I feel like this location is one of the biggest La Michoacanas in the Elgin area. The cons of La Michoacana at the McLean Blvd location are the quietness which I understand why because I went there on a weekday, but I don’t have any more cons about La Michoacana in this location. 

Overall, I like this particular location of La Michoacana because it’s more spacious but also, it’s cleaner than other La Michoacanas that I’ve been to. The best part about La Michoacana in this location is they have a huge setup of snacks for customers to see and also a huge display of different kinds of chips. I would recommend La Michoacana to anyone who is adventurous when it comes to trying foods. I would give this location a 10/10.
