Heavy Metal & Burgers: My Honest Review on Kuma’s Corner

Hello, ECC community. Today, I’m going to do a review on a well-known place called Kuma’s Corner which is a heavy metal themed restaurant. They have four locations of which three of them are in the Chicagoland area and one in Indiana which is their first location outside of Illinois. The location that I went to is their Schaumburg location which is located inside Woodfield Village Green.

Once you arrive at the exterior of the restaurant, you will see a brown sign without any logo or wording but as you get closer, you will see a bear with Kuma’s Corner wording above. As I entered the restaurant, I was greeted with heavy metal decorations, stickers all around the bar, tv’s and heavy metal music. One of the servers asked me if I wanted to sit at the bar section and my response was no because sitting at a table by myself would feel more comfortable. Once I settled in at my table, I was handed their menu book which lists tons of different burgers, appetizers, sides, etc. Since I haven’t been to this restaurant in years, I took a little bit longer to pick the menu items that I wanted.

I looked at the menu and I saw that they have this menu item called Jalapeno Poppers which is a fried Jalapenos with chorizo cream filling, so I decided to order that menu item first. The reason why I ordered the Jalapeno Poppers is because I need time to look at their burger section of their menu. As soon as the waitress served me my Jalapeno Poppers at the table, I was excited to try them because I wanted to see if it’s good or not. As soon as I took a bite of the Jalapeno Poppers, I was surprised at how good it was. It has a nice creamy taste from the filling, but I can taste the chorizo also. Second, I can feel a little spice from the Jalapenos.

Next, I ordered their most popular item, The Famous Kuma, which is their signature burger with a 10 oz patty topped with lettuce, tomato, red onions and cheese on a pretzel bun. Also, you can have the option of having waffle fries, regular fries or salad so I decided to have the regular fries as my side and a dipping cup of ketchup is included with the burger. Once I took a bite of the Kuma burger, I was in awe right away because of how good it was. It has a nice flavor from the patty but also, I can taste the red onions and the pretzel roll is soft and it keeps the burger together. I would give the burger a 10/10 and the Jalapeno Poppers a 9/10.

Overall, I like the food at Kuma’s Corner because the food looks attractive and delicious but also the atmosphere is second to none. The location is amazing because it’s not in a busy area but also there’s plenty of parking spots that you can choose from. If you want to eat in a restaurant with good food but also a good atmosphere, Kuma’s Corner is a place that you must have on your bucket list.
