The defense attorney of an ECC student charged with bringing a firearm to campus has requested more time to gather evidence.
In a court appearance yesterday, both parties agreed to continue court proceedings to June 22 at the Elgin Branch Court.
Jessica Jeffries was previously charged with a Class B misdemeanor for Possession of a Concealed Firearm in a Prohibited Area, Feb. 9.
If convicted, Jeffries could face a maximum of six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,500.
Her case has been ongoing since Jan. 28.
Jeffries currently isn’t on pretrial supervision; however, she still has to follow certain conditions, according to Kane County Court records.
Per the conditions of her release, she cannot possess a firearm and had to surrender it.
Jeffries also had to surrender her Firearm Owner’s Identification card and concealed carry license to the Kane County Sheriff’s office, according to Kane County Court records.
