Longtime Business professor, Clark Hallpike coaches the men’s and women’s tennis teams at Elgin Community College. Here are snippets from an interview with Hallpike.
Q: What is your prior work experience?
A: “I was in HR,” Hallpike said.
Q: Can you explain some of the challenges you have faced as a professor that students may not be aware of?
A: “Trying to keep students engaged” has been one of the biggest challenges Hallpike has faced.
Q:What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A: Hallpike described a moment that he saw a former student, and they came up to him and gave him a big hug and said, “you changed my life.” He also described how another student came up to him, “19 years after he had been in my class, and he recited the material I had taught him.”
