Effective through June 30, 2029, Support Staff of Elgin Community College’s Association (SSECCA) ratified a new three-year contract.
Granted an additional 10 days, the contract raises the annual total from 12 to 22 days of PTO.
According to SSECCA’s President, Anitra King, 97 attended the ratification meeting—84 in favor and 13 against.
“We’re still in the editing stages of the final contract,” said Kimberly Wagner, ECC’s Vice President of Business and Finance.
While ratification marks the end of the bargain, the contract’s final version has not been published.
“The contract won’t be available until the board’s special meeting on Monday,” said King.
“Once they approve, I will be sending it to SSECCA members, then it may be online after that.”
On June 22, 2026, the Board of Trustees held a meeting overviewing the contract’s final draft.
However, the publicized version is not available.
“One of the ‘no’s’ on the document expressed that part-time staff needed more paid time off, but the Board of Trustees argued,” King continued.“The Board didn’t want anything labeled as ‘Spring Break, Winter Break,’ or ‘Holidays.’ So what we did was give them more PTO.”
Multiple part-time staff declined to be interviewed.
“I can’t comment on back and forth in terms of what people wish they would have had,” said ECC President Peggy Heinrich. “Because at the end of the day, we have a contract that the group is happy with.”
