Vice President Rin Sedrak gave her opinion on Dr. Mae Hicks Jones.
“I thought the guest speaker was really great. She is a business teacher at ECC, and she made a lot of great points.” she said.
She mentions if she got any advice from Dr. Hicks Jones.
“I did. I asked her some personal questions, just because I don’t know I was dealing with some personal issues with like, how to deal with life, you know, criticism, etc, and I wanted to know what she thought of all those things. It was really great.” Sedrak mentioned.
Also, she gave her takeaways from the meeting.
“The balance of life as a woman, and that no matter how stressful life can be right now for me, that it can pay off really well in the future.” Sedrak said.

Audience member, third year student Yakov Galvez addressed his opinion on the USAC meeting.
According to him, he learned what Women’s History Month is about based on the meeting.
“Well, I learned about new insights on how do we like, how women play a role in our in our in society, and how we must like, commemorate that aspect to our culture, because women have been oppressed, and it’s true, they have been oppressed throughout most of history, and so it’s really important to like acknowledge a gender that is always pivotal for the creation of a civilization. They are responsible for us being here.” Galvez mentioned.
He gave his thoughts on this week’s USAC meeting.
“The meeting was generally good. There were better ones in the beginning. But I mean, like this is good we got crowded,” Galvez said.

Another audience member, third year student Benjamin Canner gives his opinion about the meeting.
“They were talking about young women, billionaires and millionaires and just successful women in the industry.” he said.
Canner mentioned what surprised him from Dr. Hicks Jones’ presentation.
“I knew a lot of the women, like the famous women they presented, but I didn’t know how much money they actually had.” he mentioned.
Also, Canner added “They’re billionaires based on the products that they sell, not just their looks.”
He gave his thoughts on how the meeting went.
“I thought it was a good idea and I wish I had got to see the whole thing.” Canner said.
According to Canner, he mentions what he learned from Dr. Hicks Jones.
“Women are becoming more prominent and successful in the industry and that’s a good thing.” he mentioned.

Another audience member, second year student Benjamin McDonald gave his thoughts about this week’s meeting.
“This week’s meeting is pretty cool. Usually we do have more rambunctious meetings, but today we have more chill and informative meetings.” he said.
McDonald asked if Dr. Hicks Jones impacted his perspective on her.
“I would definitely say so. I think she did a great job speaking strictly because I haven’t heard of her before as an ACC representative, but obviously I can tell that she’s very informative on what she talks about and what she does. It really did definitely change the overall perspective.” he commented.
According to McDonald, he mentioned what he learned from the speaker.
“Well, everything she was kind of talking about is something I guess I already knew. It was great to hear back on this. In essence, of just being yourself. No matter what day it is, even if it isn’t a holiday, she represents herself 100%. I really respect that.” he said.
Overall, the meeting went well for students. They got a chance to learn something from Dr. Mae Hicks Jones but hopefully they will follow her advice as they make small steps toward their dream careers.
