On Feb. 17, around 11:35 a.m., an Elgin Community College student reported a lost iPhone to campus police officer John Jameson.
According to the police report, the student left his iPhone in F-210 on a desktop. Upon realizing he left the phone, the student returned only to find his phone was no longer there.
In the report, it states Jameson went to the classroom to investigate the student’s claims of missing iPhone. Upon entering F210, the officer asked Professor Shah if she had seen an iPhone who said “no phone had been turned in.”
The report said the student continued to locate his phone by GPS and consistent calling but could not locate it, and the phone kept returning to voicemail.
On Feb. 19, at 11:20 am, the student reported that he had located his phone on the podium in F-212, instead of the initial reported room F210.

An unnamed Elgin Community College employee led police officer Juan Morales to three unclaimed lockers in Building A to remove locks on Feb. 12, according to a police report.
One locker, A190B, located near A-300, contained several tongue depressors, medical rubber gloves, two Kelly hemostatic forceps, and a receipt for something unnamed, according to the police report.
According to the report, the second locker, A196B, contained three medical books, three three- ring binder notebooks, a stethoscope, a clear bag with a disposable PPE gown, an “artistic rock,” a “Respiratory Trainer,” and miscellaneous personal items. The third locker, A147B only contained a blue disposable PPE gown, according to the police report.
Items found in the lockers were moved to A-106, and the ECC employee advised Morales that they would contact the students who own the items and would send the items to the lost and found if not claimed, according to the report.

On Feb. 9, an unnamed Elgin Community College student reported that they were being blackmailed by a person they met on the dating app, Grinder.
According to the victim, the person repeatedly asked for pictures via text messages, which the victim could not respond to due to being in class. After a few hours of no responses, the alleged perpetrator threatened to post all of the pair’s pictures and text messages to the victim’s family, outing them in the process. The alleged perpetrator reportedly gave the victim three minutes to decide if they would pay $2000 to keep the documents from being released.
As of the time of the report, nothing had been released.
Reporting Officer, Thomas Clancy, instructed the victim to block the alleged perpetrator on all social media platforms and to contact the administrator of Grinder to report the alleged activity.

On Feb. 5, an unnamed Elgin Community College student was reported to have fainted in classroom F-200. Reporting Officer, J. Jamerson, spoke with a student who summarized the situation.
The student alleged that the victim was feeling ill and passed out, falling out of his chair in the process. The student reportedly did not hit his head. The student said that he had no known medical conditions.
According to the report, paramedics arrived and treated the student who refused transportation.

An unnamed person was accused of charging a vape device near the Spartan Corner on Feb. 4, according to an Elgin Community College Police Department report.
A student expressed concern about the person’s own safety and the safety of others based on an incident that was redacted in the report.
When investigating footage of the person’s activities, Officer Juan Morales was dispatched to investigate a report of the person smoking outside of the Spartan Center.
ECC’s Administrative Procedure 3.801 only allows smoking in personal vehicles in designated parking lots A, H, and J.
According to the report, Morales told the person that ECC is a smoke free campus and to extinguish their cigarette.
They replied that it was okay back in 2012.
The person was not an ECC student, but said: “I am technically because of the Bill of Rights,” and that they were planning on taking classes, according to the report.
The person claimed to be ECC’s highest donor and made a few incoherent statements before being released.

After receiving a report of an unnamed injured Elgin Community College student, ECC Police officer Andrew Sanavaitis responded to D-140 on Jan. 26, at approximately 11:00 a.m., according to the report.
The student, who was bleeding from injuries to her forehead, mouth, chin, and both hands, arrived in the lobby with assistance from Chief David Kintz. An unnamed witness followed the pair and reported seeing the student lying on the ground but not witnessing the fall itself, according to the police records.
Elgin EMS Unit #4 arrived, evaluated the student, and transported her to St. Joseph’s Hospital at 77 N. Airlite St. Elgin, for treatment.
CCTV footage from the outer D-lot captured the incident. The officer recorded the incident on body- worn camera (BWC).
Authorities closed the case as a non-criminal accidental fall.
